11th EMERGENCY SPECIAL SESSION: RETURN OF UKRAINIAN CHILDREN
Statement by H.E Ms. Beth Delaney, Ambassador and Deputy Permanent Representative of Australia to the United Nations

Australia would like to thank Ukraine, Canada and the EU for leading on this important initiative.
Australia is proud to be a co-sponsor of such a significant resolution.
We are also proud to be an active member of the International Coalition for the Return of Ukrainian Children, led by Canada and Ukraine.
For nearly four years, Ukraine has bravely resisted Russia's illegal and immoral war of aggression.
Australia mourns the loss of life of Ukraine's citizens, and the generational toll of Russia's brutality.
In line with this resolution, we deplore the practice of the forcible deportation and transfer of Ukrainian children.
We demand that Russia ensures the immediate, safe and unconditional return of all Ukrainian children who have been forcibly transferred or deported.
Australia has been clear since day one that Russia, and those enabling its illegal invasion, will face consequences.
Once again, Australia calls on Russia to immediately end its war and adhere fully to its obligations under international law.
Today and every day, Australia stands with Ukraine against Russia’s aggression.
